It’s not my fault!

My dear husband does not share my love of refinishing furniture or tearing apart the house (but I still love him).

He is very tolerant of the upheaval in his home and garage…all he asks is that he be able to park in the garage by the time the snow flies.

So last week I did a major overhaul on the garage.

This is his side.

Now…for the irony.

This summer we replaced his 10-year-old Volkswagen Jetta with a Ford Ranger.  Not a big truck by any means, but definitely longer than the Jetta.

Guess what?  It won’t fit in the garage!!

But I kept my promise….it’s not my fault!

Apparently the builders of this home didn’t believe in storing anything—other than cars—in the garage.  Our extra refrigerator and freezer, apparently, are not zoned for garage space.

So for now—neither car can park in the garage!

(The minivan is too long for that space as well.)

My husband does not consider this to be an acceptable state of affairs!

Changes may be coming…

I kind of looks like my garage :) My hubby's truck won't fit in our garage either, so his side is used as my workshop.

No way! Your garage is too short?? I have never seen such a thing....and that is coming from a gal who has bought and sold 7 homes, so I have seen a lot!!! We had a car port once. (doorless and typical in Florida) We looked into enclosing it and it was crazy expensive because it was kinda short like you describe. Maybe the house use to have a carport and they put a door on it and that is why it is short??? Remember to check if you CAN go out from your house. Meaning permits...I bet you have this all handled already though. ;)

We have the same problem, with our refrigerator in the garage our minivan won't fit. My hubby isn't too upset though because his motorcycle fits. My side on the other hand is crazy! I drive a VW bug & it barely fits...I have so much furniture that I'm working on in front of it & next to it that you can't get into my car without carefully pulling it out first.

I love the picture of his neat side and then then your, ahem, "work" side. Hilarious!!

Oh dread....... the garage. I don't think I'll ever be able to park in mine ever again. At least not until the kids are gone.....

I so want to put my Pathfinder in my little 1934 garage before ice hits us. I don't know if I move even the few things in there if it will fit. Going to be a total surprise!

We just straightened up our garage, too, Korrie, before the snow hits. My hubby measured to make sure when he installed some shelving that we would still be able to park. Whew! Looks like we will! What are you thinking? Extending the garage?

You've got some great potential on your side of the garage though. I'm looking forward to seeing those along the way.

Oh boy, I sure do appreciate our garage especially in the winter! How crazy that they made yours so small!

I know exactly what you mean. Thirty years ago I drove through the drywall in our garage in a compact car! There wasn't even a freezer to blame. The garage was too short!

I'm thankful for the table I got today for $2.60, for going out for chinese food with my husband tonight and for my older daughter who invited her 13 year old sister over to spend the night.

Incredible! I do have to say though that my daughter & sil's garage just barely allows their cars to be inside. She has a Ford Explorer and he has a Mustang. Those should NOT be a problem...and neither should yours.
Just my humble opinion ~ :-)

Are you serious???? How could the builder build a house with a garage that's too short to fit a truck or a minivan???? That is ridiculous! But at least your hubby can't say you didn't try to make room for his truck!!! LOL!

Yay for you! Now you can fill it with furniture. I'm impressed with your garage. I'm too embarrassed to show mine...but it's not my fault. Period. And I'm not going any further with that one!
